New League for North Lincolnshire

During the summer break - Brigg Netball Club took the decision to pull out of the local senior league which it had played in for the last 11 years - at the time we had 5 teams playing in it - and start up our own league

The decision was not taken lightly nor was the implications of what effect it would have on the current league - which only had 18 teams within it - but for various reasons we felt it was the right thing to do - to aid our development and that of our younger players to play in a controlled environment.

The North Lindum league was founded (Lindum is the old Roman name for Lindsay) and the venue - North Lindsay College was booked - flyer's went out and fingers were crossed.

Well the first entry came in - and that was followed by another and as a development tool for the league and netball in general we Incorporated a B2N session along side the league - with great success! over 20 people turned up the first week.

We put in 5 teams from club and 2 teams from the other local league joined us - making us 7

After just 3 weeks of the B2N sessions we have had 3 more teams form - all with sponsorship and are now playing in the league structure to give us 10 teams in total, and it looks like one more is to form out the current B2N laddies - which will take us to 11 all within 5 weeks of setting up - but the biggest thing is that 3 and maybe 4 new teams are now playing netball regular - with players ranging from 18 - 50years old taking part

We have offered friendly matches to other teams as well - to keep the league different and are pleased that Chevrons will be coming on the 15/11/11 to play 2 teams on the night.

Another benefit is that each team within the league is given a skills training session as well - lead by the clubs head coach - and this can be on what ever the team want - it may be shooting / defence or back line tactics - its up to them
