EAST MIDLANDS REGIONAL SCHOOLS NETBALL FINALS 2011
A bleak mid winter day in Lincolnshire was brightened by the brilliance of 30 outstanding netball teams descending upon the Priory Academy School in order to compete for the title of East Midlands Regional Champions.
All teams, winners in their own right having won through local and county rounds to reach this prestigious event, aspired to take the regional crown and a more importantly a place at the E-Teach.com National Finals.
The three age groups, U14, U16 and U19 were spread across 6 courts so spectators, and there were many, could cheer on not only their own teams but see the exceptional standard the other age groups were displaying.
Games were officiated by neutral, fully qualified umpires in a fair, diligent manner and any accidents were comprehensively dealt with by the Lincoln division of St John Ambulance.
Each team played four games in their opening round with winners and runners up progressing to quarter, semis and then the final. Teams not reaching this stage went through to play offs for final placings.
It was clear that netball is one of the leading developing sports. Skill levels in all age groups are improving year on year thanks to the England Netball talent programmes and the conscientiousness and commitment of coaches within our schools and clubs.
Medals and trophies were presented to winners and runners up in each age group and an overall “Best Defence” trophy went to Oundle School’s under 16s.

Leicestershire – Loughborough High School U14, U16; Welbeck College U19; Sir Jonathon North College U14 and Oakham U16 and U19
Lincolnshire – QEGS Horncastle U14, U19; Priory Lincoln U16; KGGS Grantham U19;
The Deepings U14; Stamford High School U16
Northamptonshire – Wellingborough U14; Oundle U16, U19; Northampton High School U14; Bishop Stopford U16, U19
Nottinghamshire – Chilwell U14; Nottingham High School U16; West Bridgford U14, U19; Selston U16; Bilborough U19
Teams representing East Midlands at the National Finals are:
U14 - Loughborough High School and Repton
U16 - Oundle and Loughborough
U19 – Oakham and Bilborough
