A grand total of 14 ladies have attended the BAK2NETBALL sessions in Skegness. They range for 20 to 50 years of age and with totally mixed abilities. Some Ladies have never played netball before and some have just not played for a while. We are on week 7 of 10 and we have covered basic ball skills along with footwork, basic attack and defence skills and shooting.
Everyone seems to have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and some of the Ladies want to continue and join a team in the wednesday night league. A couple are of a high enough standard to be joining the Seasiders Club and training with the others in order to play in the County League.
We are due to tackle "positions" this week and I am hoping that we will play on a full court for the first time. I think some will find this hard but everyone gives 110% - they are a great bunch of Ladies and i feel priviledged to have met them. In week 8 we will concentrate on fitness work, week 9 we will be having a recap week with bits of all of the weeks pulled together and in week 10 I am hoping to get some of the Seasiders to come along and for us to have a match or two.
The session are just TOO short and, if this runs again next year, I will have 1.1/2 hour sessions. This will allow for 1 hour training plus greeting, gossiping and drinking time haha.
